E-3 Visa Eligibility Conditions:

A “Specialty Occupation”, or the equivalent, is an occupation that requires highly specialized knowledge and theoretical and practical application. These are the minimum requirements to be eligible for an E-3 visa. This definition is identical to the Immigration and Nationality Act definition for a H-1B specialty occupation.

The quota is applicable to all citizens worldwide, while the E-3 Visa can only be obtained by Australians. The E-3 Visa is easier to get if you are an Australian citizen than the H-1B Work Visa. E-3 Work Visas can be temporary visas. This means that the visa expires and the person must leave the United States. E-3 Work Visas are typically issued for two years. E-3 Visas can be extended for up to two years.
