The Redesigned Naturalization Design

The USCIS has recently completed a multiyear redesign of the U.S. citizenship test in order to create a more uniform, fair and meaningful naturalization process. The new naturalization exam focuses on American democracy’s fundamental concepts and the rights and obligations of citizenship. It aims to encourage citizens to identify with our basic values as Americans and to help them learn.
On October 1, 2008, the newly revised naturalization exam will go into effect. All citizenship applicants will need to take the updated test after that date.
