There are two types of Asylum: Refugee Status and Asylum.

  • Asylum – Individuals who are already in the US can apply for asylum. They must meet the criteria of a refugee.
  • Refugee – A person who cannot or won’t return to their home country because of a well-founded fear or threat to life or liberty. The applicant must reside outside the United States to be eligible for refugee status.
