Form I-864EZ, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act
The purpose of Form I-864EZ is to show that the immigrant applicant has sufficient financial resources to live without concern of becoming a public charge. Form I-864EZ is a shorter form of Form I-864 and designed for cases that meet certain criteria. Form I-864EZ is required for family-based immigrants to show that the immigrant applicant has adequate means of financial support and that income he or she is using is based entirely on the applicant's salary or pension and is shown on one or more Forms W-2 provided by the employer or former employer.
A sponsor may use Form I-864EZ only if all of the following requirements are met:
1. He or she is the person who filed or is filing the Form I-130 for a relative being sponsored;
2. The relative that is being sponsored is the only person listed on the Form I-130 petition;
3. The income that is being used to qualify is based entirely on the sponsor's salary or pension and is demonstrated by a Form W-2.
Form I-864EZ is a contract between a sponsor and the United States government. The sponsor completing and signing Form I-864EZ agrees to use his or her income and resources to support the intended immigrant named in this form, .
